What You Need to Know Before
Applying for a Home Sunshine-Warren Homes is one of our area's leading programs for affordable, single-family housing. We follow local, State, and Federal housing laws preventing discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or marital status. However, we do have income and employment prerequisites you should be aware of prior to initiating the application process. There are also a few other factors that may or may not impact our decision to approve your application.
Employment: You must be able to verify 90 days of continuous employment. If you are unable to do so, please speak with one of our housing program managers to discuss your current employment status.
Other Factors We May Consider:
Utilities: You are responsible for utilities - gas, electric, water, cable, etc. They are not included in our rental fees. Most utility companies have programs for low- to moderate-income individuals and families. Main utilities, such as gas, water, and electric, must remain connected at ALL times. Disconnection due to nonpayment of utilities is grounds for eviction. Expectations - Ours and Yours
If we approve your application and enter into a rental agreement, there are general expectations we have related to your occupancy of the house. Likewise, we want you to know what you can expect from us. Please review them prior to applying.

Using Section 8 Vouchers
We accept Section 8 vouchers that cover all or part of your rent. However, we are not able to facilitate the process of applying for a voucher. If you wish to apply for one, please click the link below. It will take you to our local public housing agency. Once you receive a voucher, you may proceed with the application process.
Click here to connect with Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Agency (TMHA), our local public housing authority. You can also call them at (330) 369-1533 or visit its office, which is located at 4076 Youngstown Rd., SE, Warren, OH 44484. IMPORTANT: If you are in possession of a Section 8 voucher, please contact our office to make sure the house you are interested in is available. Please also note that you must renew your Section 8 voucher annually; there are other requirements you must meet throughout the year as well. If for some reason you are unable to renew your voucher or are otherwise removed from the program, your obligation to pay rent does not go away. It is important, therefore, to contact TMHA immediately if you experience an income change or any other change that may impact the status of your voucher. |
